Above: Jamie and her fiance
A friend of mine from college passed away this Tuesday. She was diagnosed with rectal cancer and she was only 25.
Here is a link to one of my professor's blog. She wrote on Jamie and what many of us can do to help to keep her memory alive.
ABOUT JAMIE
A friend of mine had an idea to start a scholarship in her honor. They are trying to raise $25,000 in order for it to be official.
The blog world is large and in charge! So, I know if any of you can help and spread the word about Jamie, we can help raise money in honor of her. This has been a really hard time on everyone who knew her and I know that the "Hornets" will never forget her and will always love her.
I was talking to my adviser from my college paper and I was telling her how I thought I was going to be OK when she did pass since I knew it was going to happen, but I was not prepared at all! We all knew it was coming, but when it did...it hurt the same amount as if we would have never known.
If you want to read about Jamie in her OWN words, read her blog: JAMIE'S BLOG
This excerpt is taken from my professor's blog:
So, dear readers, I know the economy sucks right now. But if you have it in your heart and your wallet, maybe you could send a few bucks to help get us started. I know it's a lot to ask of people I've (for the most part) never met. But it's really the only thing I can think of to do at the moment. Because Jamie's gone, and nothing can change that.
If you're interested, you can make checks payable to "University Foundation of Sacramento State," and to ensure your money goes to the right account, write "Jamie Gonzales Memorial Scholarship Fund" in the memo line. Checks can be mailed to:
The Jamie Gonzales Memorial Scholarship Fund
c/o The State Hornet
Sacramento State
6000 J St., University Union-2nd Floor
Sacramento CA 95819-6102
And if you can't send money, we'd be equally grateful for your prayers. Jamie will be fine now, but her family and her fiance have a tough road ahead.
Thanks Everyone for taking time to read this very important post! I love you guys!
